Tip Tuesday-4 Tips on Making Your Business Stand Out

How do you compete for business? Does your small business stand out in a crowd?

Below are a few tips to help your business stand out.

  1. Make sure your customers know the face behind the product/business.  One of the biggest reasons small businesses fail is because of the persistent absence of the business owner.  Without an actively engaged owner, employees lose motivation and structure, which can quickly lead to sloppy service, or a poor product.  Yes,  your business needs to be able to function without you, but it is important to find a balance.  Find ways to make sure your customers know you and connect with the face behind the business.  Businesses really thrive when the energy of the owner is there.
  2. Give great customer service.  Everyone knows the story of over the top customer service provided by Nordstrom’s. Create your own over the top response system and word of mouth will get the story around for you.  One of the greatest ways to do this is to over deliver on your first customer contact.
  3. Offer a guarantee to your customers.   Can you offer a guarantee so strong that no one else in your town or industry would dream of offering?  This one scares some people but, you probably guarantee your work anyway, you just might not say it.  Come out and announce that you guarantee your work and watch what happens!
  4. Build a strong social media strategy.  An active social media strategy is a great way to drive traffic to your website.  When used effectively, social media can create a buzz around your business.  They can also be a good way to quickly spread the word about a new product, or offering.
