Being content means you are happy the way things are and you have no desire to improve your present situation. In sales, I have found that with many companies their salesmen are content. They call on us because they have to, but they do not try to sale us a thing or update us on new items, techniques, pricing, etc. They are just order takers and they are not striving to increase their sales because they are simply content. This is the reason many companies set sales goals for their sales force, so they will not become content. If you wish to grow your business, contentment will never work for you. You must always strive to build your business either through new marketing techniques, hiring more salespersons, adding new and improved equipment, or even through diversification. Being content now could spell failure in the future.
